Missions
In Matthew 28:19, Jesus gives us the mission to “Go and make disciples of all men…” At Lake Martin, we take that challenge seriously. Being the church is about more than just what happens within the four walls of the church building. In fact, the Bible emphasizes what happens in our community and world.
Acts 1:8 gives us the pattern of our mission to reach the world for Christ.
Our church is involved in each of these areas by being on mission in our community, state, nation, and world. Explore the information below about how we are involved in missions.
Local Missions
Local Missions are service opportunities in our own backyard. A passion for missions doesn’t have to take you overseas. You can serve as a witness for Jesus Christ right here in our community. Jesus said in Acts 1:8, “but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria and even to the remotest part of the earth.” The Great Commission is all encompassing, sending some to foreign missions, but challenging many of us to serve as missionaries right here at home – locally.
Our church supports several local mission efforts such as Loaves and Fishes, and more. We are also active in helping our neighbors who are in need. Whether it is a construction project, providing needed resources, or serving those who are not able to help themselves, our mission is to make Christ known in the Lake Martin area.
State Missions
Lake Martin Baptist Church partners with the Alabama State Board of Missions and the state WMU in order to help fulfill our Acts 1:8 strategy of reaching the world for Christ. Our church participates in events and projects including Disaster Relief, construction and reconstruction projects. Our desire is to make an eternal impact on our state for Christ.
North America Missions
Our church partners with the North American Missions Board through the SBC Cooperative Program each year. NAMB reports over 1500 new church starts each year. In addition, through our partnership with NAMB, we are able to support Disaster Relief and Evangelism efforts throughout our nation. Through this program we currently support thousands of missionaries serving all over the country. We will also participate in missions projects and trips throughout North America to help spread the good news about Jesus.
International Missions
LMBC partners with the SBC’s International Mission Board to spread the gospel all over the globe. Over 6,000 people groups – 1.7 billion people – still live with little or no access to the Gospel. Through this partnership, our church supports over 3,900 missionaries worldwide and their efforts in spreading the love of Christ through World Hunger efforts, Water Missions efforts, church planting, disciple-making, and many other avenues. We believe this partnership is making a major difference in expanding God’s kingdom on earth.
